Inspiration

Here at iRocket, we know the struggle of self-doubt, something that seems to hide within your heart and form a pit in your stomach but actually has far-reaching IRL consequences on our career paths, opportunities, and futures. We wanted to produce something that is actionable, produces real results, and teaches our audience to bet on themselves.

What it does

iRocket is a confidence-building game and application to track daily challenges and build self-confidence. Through a quiz calculating their strengths and weaknesses in leadership, each day, users receive a tailored challenge to help them grow in areas like leadership, communication, and goal-setting. The app features a daily challenge display, a badge and level system, and a progress tracker designed like a rocketship to represent personal growth, as well as badges earned after completing challenges consistently.

How we built it

We built iRocket Confidence using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript on VS Code using Liveshare to collaboratively work on the application.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into problems with writing the script for our prototype. We had to learn from start the different tools that exist and how they can be used at their full capabilities to enable us to make our prototype the best we can have.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of how we were able to turn our idea into a functioning prototype. We were able to use technologies we have never even heard of to create something that can empower women to make changes in their industries.

What we learned

This project taught us to trust our capabilities and our capacity to learn. We had to take on new languages, collaborate with people we’d never met, and build something all in one night. However, we used many of the skills that we teach our iRocket audience and employed them to trust in how hard we’ve worked to produce something amazing. We learned EJS, accessing local databases for our calendar, and how to produce dynamic HTML webpages. Overall, we learned how to make something tangible out of dreams—the entire mission of iRocket Confidence.

What's next for iRocket Confidence

We hope to be able to use AI to implement tracking across the user’s apps to integrate their day-to-day behaviors into ways they can improve their confidence. We would also like to expand the app to include everyone, in every age group and gender. Additionally, we would like to incorporate more areas where people may need help.
