IRL was supposed to be a GPS based chat service where you can chat in real life, online, with people around you, in real time. What ended up happening, since I learned how to code in Javascript the same night I made IRL, was that I didn't implement line sanitation. Meaning people could feed code right through my text field and use it sort of like an IDE. I was about to fix this "bug", but it seemed like I had way more users and they seemed to be really enjoying the experience. So now IRL is a crowd sourced, sandbox experience (all the hype words). Where you are in control of your content and can influence the usage of others. There are definitely trolls on here, but you can always refresh and clean up the site/your experience anytime. What started off as apparently a yik yak clone is now being compared to a more bare bones 4chan.
