Inspiration

Our inspiration was to reduce the amount of pollution on the Earth while implementing our computer science skills.

What it does

This is a web app that lets you upload a picture of an item that you don't use or throw away, and gives you a list of things that you can do with it. If you don't find anything useful, you will be able to give it to another person who wants it, allowing for less waste and making Earth a Better place.

How we built it

We use machine learning to detect the item in the photo, and we used a crawler and a scraper to return a list of things you can make from the object.

Challenges we ran into

We had trouble getting the classifier to work because this was the first time we dealt with a classifier with complex math in the background.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were able to get the photodetection to work and extract data from the internet.

What we learned

We learned how to train AI models, classifiers, and how to work as a team.

What's next for iReuse

We are planning on releasing the social aspect of the site which allows users to communicate with each other to give their items away amongst themselves.
