Inspiration

I was interested in investigating the limits of the irc protocol and i thought exploring a maze would be an interesting way to do it.

What it does

The server creates a special channel called #maze which intercepts the messages and doesn't send them to all the other clients. It parses the commands and feeds them into the maze explorer.

How we built it

Used the twisted python package to support send and then it parsing the individual commands using python.

Challenges we ran into

Different irc clients parse messages in different ways so it was a challenge to make sure that it has similar behaviour between clients. Also since IRC has been extended a lot over the years

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I'm proud of figuring out how to actually communicate using irc.

What we learned

Not to use irc as a medium to send data to games.

What's next for Irc Maze

Changed to use a less frustrating network protocol
