IOTA

A data analysis environment for the IoT age.

by Srihari Nanniyur

Inspiration

I am fascinated by all things networking, and IoT is the latest innovation in this field. There is a sore need for a comprehensive, all-in-one device detection, handling, and data analysis environment with an intuitive interface and graphical data representation. This type of IoT hub would be immensely useful to data scientists working with parameters such as environmental metadata, enabling them to create an accurate model of ecosystems though IoT device networks. The application would also be of use to anyone working with IoT and/or server networks, enhancing their experience by providing a complete picture of their system.

Features

IOTA is a full-fledged analysis environment. It has the ability to interface with IoT devices and read and write data from and to them. Other features include the ability to scan IP addresses for open devices, viewing data logs for IoT devices, and pattern match regular expressions in device data. Its most salient feature, however, is the ability to generate bar graphs and spark charts for user-specified parameters in device data. This feature, combined with its Swiss Army Knife-like capabilities, make it the perfect tool for IoT network analysis.

Where to go from here

I am currently working on adding weather metadata processing to this project.
