Inspiration
We were inspired to solve the problem of manual invoice verification, which can lead to financial errors, duplicate payments, and wasted time. InvoiceGuard aims to make invoice checking faster and more reliable using AI and automation.
What it does
InvoiceGuard compares invoices with purchase orders and goods-received records, detects mismatched quantities and prices, flags duplicate invoices, and generates AI-powered explanations to help prevent overpayments.
How we built it
We designed a workflow combining document extraction, rule-based validation, and AI-generated explanations. The system highlights discrepancies and provides a review interface for users to verify issues before payment approval.
Challenges we ran into
Handling different document formats, extracting accurate data, and distinguishing genuine errors from legitimate differences were key challenges. We focused on transparent validation and human review.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We developed a practical solution to a real-world business problem by combining AI with financial validation. Our approach prioritizes explainable results and helps users identify potential payment errors.
What we learned
We learned how AI can support enterprise automation, why accurate data extraction matters, and why deterministic rules and human oversight are essential for reliable financial applications.
What's next for InvoiceGuard
We plan to improve OCR accuracy, support more document formats, add downloadable audit reports, enhance duplicate detection, and integrate InvoiceGuard with enterprise accounting systems.
