INVISIBLE ALIEN

Inspiration

I got inspired from my personal story of being ignored throughout my years in America feeling invisible and like an alien since I’m not from America. I have the option to go to my country any time and leave everything I’m working for, but I’m not quitting. That’s why I added the dancing, because I might not be noticed, but I’m still working and doing my art.

What it does

The filter creates a scenery of an alien dancing under its spaceship. This makes us think of many scenarios and stories we can create with the project.

How I built it

To create the world object experiance for reels I used Blender and SketchFab. I worked on the rest of the project on Spark AR to bring this project into reality.

Challenges I ran into

Keeping the project under 4mb was challenging. Another hard part was deciding if I should add more specifications to the project or just leave it as It is. Creating a project that is meant to be used for reels is challenging because you need to think “what would people use, how are they going to play with it, and why?”

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I am proud of the rainbow gloss on the alien which makes it invisible, but reflecting some light to make it look more mysterious. The whole setup of the alien and the spaceship I think is great combination to create stories and probably dances with the alien.

What I learned

I leaned that creating a filter for a competition is basically competing with your own best ideas. I’ve created many projects and learned that to create something you need to test it multiple times, by many people, and to ask questions. I got reviews from my friends which made me much more confident in my choices as a creator. I want to make people use it INDEFINITELY, that’s why I had to ask my friends who use reels if that is a filter they would use. After many reviews I was left with a strong mind of WHO I AM, why I’m creating INVISIBLE ALIEN, and what the project should finally look like.

What's next for INVISIBLE ALIEN

I want to get more reviews from people and decide if I should add more. For now people loved it and everyone felt confident that this is an invention worthy of being used in reels. For the future I will definitely add falling particles from the sky with a long screen tap.
