Inspiration
I was inspired by the RevenueCat Shipyard Creator Contest "One portfolio to track them all." The idea of a single, unified app for messy, multi-asset portfolios (stocks, real estate, commodities) resonated with me deeply, so I built exactly that.
What it does
It fixes the problem of investors juggling between different platforms to check and monitor their different investments. But it does more than just that:
- AI powered personalized portfolio analysis to spot risks, show opportunities, and identify weaknesses in your portfolio.
- AI powered analysis of different assets you hold, to show the risks, market trends and patterns and key insights.
- Personalized investment mentor for you to chat with anytime, for advice grounded in your portfolio, not generic advice.
How we built it
Built with fast and cross platform app development SDK Flutter for seamless IOS + Android experience. Financial Modeling Prep (FMP) API for accurate stock prices, historical data, and beautiful interactive graphs. OpenRouter to connect to Gemini 3 Flash for AI analysis.
Challenges we ran into
API rate limits were brutal at first... no of calls spiked quickly with real-time updates and multi-asset tracking. I optimized it by caching, batched requests, and implemented smart refresh logic to stay well under limits while keeping the app responsive and data-fresh.
What we learned
Deep diving into the markets and researching for APIs I learnt a lot about the stock markets, assets and investing as a whole.
What's next for INVESTOR: Monitor Investments
If selected, I will team up with Josh to scale & monetize INVESTOR fast, turning it from an MVP to a real app with powerful features, expanding assets coverage and launching and monetizing with Josh's pre built audience.
