Inspiration

Helping people who are new to investing provide a platform to safely pick safe company and have a sense of security.

What it does

Provides knowledge and platform for people to invest in their future.

How I built it

We originally began using flask but ultimately opted to create a website that could function without the need for a backend.

We used MaterializeCSS and jQuery for our frontend frameworks.

Challenges I ran into

Learning how to use the BlackRock Aladdin API and integrate it into the website within the specified timeframe while also competing in other challenges.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Coordinating with my team to still manage to put together a (hopefully attractive) proof of concept while still excelling in other challenges.

What I learned

Time management is invaluable.

While we ultimately wanted to create a website that would function without a backend, utilizing templates for website creation is something that I can no longer justify or live without.

What's next for InvestMate

• Integrating the BlackRock Aladdin API
• More options for stocks
• Search bar for unlisted stocks
• Live chart updates
• Portfolio summary
• Utilize a framework that allows for templates (ideally using a pure javascript solution although some backend framework is justifiable)
