Investigation of Code Violations and Rental Housing

The large majority of code violations are the responsibility of landlords. Landlords often neglect their properties and, in turn, their tenants. We propose a solution to help mitigate this problem.

Inspiration

Our project has been in the works since last month. It started out as a midterm project and has since developed into a full-fledged, ready-to-deliver presentation.

What it does

We use the data analytics tools in Python to investigate the relationship between rental properties and code violations in the city of Syracuse.

How we built it

We primarily used Python and QGIS.

Challenges we ran into

We are new to coding (and Python, of course). We learned a lot through this process and reached a level of coding that we are happy with. We are ready to continue learning the language and hope to explore other languages in the future.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that we developed a strong presentation that is direct and to the point. We have a solid recommendation that we hope the city takes into account.

What we learned

We learned a lot of Python, in particular the structure and logic flows.
