Creating smart representations of real-world objects, in specific consuming goods repositories, is a phenomenon that draws our attention to apply ICT, mobile_based application and telecommunication technologies to develop a smart repository prototype to help individual people, restaurants, shops, municipalities as well as companies in managing inventories efficiently and economic.

What it does:

We have developed new hardware, web-server and a mobile application to remotely control current status and trend of goods consumption in our kitchen, home, restaurants, companies inventories, etc. as well as effective management of recycle bins in buildings and cities. Our device detect every-time consumption and transfer data via raspberry-pi (which can be replaced by a hub later for industrial use) to the web-server. In addition, we have developed a website and an application which presents current status of our repositories, trends, and suggest the items that need to be supplied, a price list from different shops, shops nears to our current location.

How I built it:

We have used 3D printing to build our prototype repository model. The load-cell HX711 is used to detect the weight and send it to an AVR-micro controller to transfer via a Bluetooth module to the raspberry-pi. A shocker sensor has been used to start the micro controller every time we change the materials inside container and raspberry-pi turn off the micro controller to save the battery and have a long life system. The raspberry-pi is passing the data to a web-server. We have created a website (using C# and jsp) based on the received data to analyze and present the trend of consumption, available amount of materials and some sample recipes. An android-based application shows our current status of repository remotely, suggests the items that should be supplied and the price list from some shops. It also shows the markets near us on Google Map.

Challenges I ran into:

We are going for both IoT and Intelligent Building tracks (not a challenge).

Accomplishments that I'm proud of:

In a short time, we could develop a smart device and services on top of it with few Euros which could solve challenging problems of different entities in society, including our homes, industries and cities.

What I learned:

We learnt about couple of interesting new applications, software, IoT, Smart buildings, cooperative team spirit, tight schedule projects, etc.

What's next for InvECO:

We believe our idea and solution could be successful in real environment and we would like to take this idea to business context and develop a new start-up based on that.
