Inspiration

The inspiration for IntuiApp came from the widespread challenges faced by students in learning web development, particularly in regions with limited internet access like Sabah and Sarawak. While web development is a critical skill in today's digital era, many students struggle with the basics of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript due to a lack of interactive and accessible learning resources. This gap in educational tools, especially for client-side scripting, motivated us to create a mobile application that not only provides interactive learning materials but also works offline. The goal was to make learning more accessible, engaging, and effective, no matter where the students are located.

What it does

IntuiApp is a hybrid mobile application designed to teach web development, focusing on client-side scripting with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. It offers a comprehensive learning experience through interactive notes, instructional videos, quizzes, and an AI-powered assistant, Intui-AI, which answers user queries in real-time. The app functions both online and offline, ensuring uninterrupted access to learning materials. IntuiApp also includes project-based learning, allowing users to apply their knowledge in practical scenarios, such as developing a basic calculator project.

How we built it

The app was built using the Flutter framework, Dart language, Firebase for backend support, and OpenAI API for the AI assistant. We iteratively developed and tested the prototype to ensure it met user expectations.

Challenges we ran into

Technical Complexity: Integrating various technologies like Flutter, Firebase, and OpenAI API was a complex task that required significant effort to ensure compatibility and performance. User Interface Design: Creating an intuitive and user-friendly interface that accommodates both beginners and advanced learners was challenging. We had to iterate multiple times based on user feedback. Offline Functionality: Ensuring that the app works seamlessly offline, especially in regions with limited internet access, required careful planning and optimization. Content Development: Developing educational content that is both comprehensive and accessible was a time-consuming process. We needed to ensure the content was easy to understand while being technically accurate.

What we learned

Throughout this project, we learned the importance of user-centered design and the value of continuous feedback in the development process. We also gained deep insights into the technical challenges of building a hybrid app that functions both online and offline. Additionally, we learned how to effectively integrate AI technologies into educational tools, creating a more interactive and personalized learning experience.

What's next for IntuiApp

Looking ahead, we plan to expand IntuiApp’s capabilities by including server-side scripting and database development, making it a more comprehensive web development tool. We also intend to launch the app on iOS to reach a broader audience. Furthermore, we are considering adding an Admin section to allow educators to update and manage educational content, ensuring that the app remains current with the latest web development trends. Our ultimate goal is to continue enhancing IntuiApp to meet the evolving needs of students and educators worldwide.
