Inspiration

The inspiration for this project came about because of the commuter students at my university. I attend the University of Texas at Arlington and it is an 85% commuter school. However, because this is the first year in which most of the students have classes in person the parking availability is restricting on some students.

What it does

Our app will show the user the nearest available parking based on their location and destination. The app will send the user real time information on availability on a parking lot and send notifications when their is more availability.

How we built it

We originally built the website with HTML , CSS, and JavaScript. As a way to improve it we began the app version with C++.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge we faced was the lack of experience with C++, Map API, and location services. We knew that the app would have to rely on the devices recourses like location. We do not want to limit our app to just android or IOS because out goal is to make this as accessible as possible.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that we tried more than anything. We may not have the best looking app or code but we did spend a great deal of time researching and learning. The biggest thing is that we learn and retain information even with no previous experience.

What we learned

We learned about the different tools supported by C++ and how important learning that language really is.

What's next for IntoPark

IntoPark will continue developing one step at a time. As a team of freshmen we are definitely not letting this project die especially realizing how many people it will help.
