Inspiration
Students often lose items like ID cards, books, wallets, keys, and earphones on campus. At the same time, someone may find these items but have no easy way to return them. This inspired us to create KhojSetu, a platform that connects lost items with their rightful owners.
What it does
KhojSetu is a Campus Lost & Found Portal where users can:
- Report lost and found items
- Browse available reports
- Submit claims for found items
- Receive notifications about claim status
Admins can manage reports and accept or reject claims to make the recovery process more reliable.
How we built it
We built KhojSetu as a web application with User and Admin roles. We implemented authentication, item reporting, claim management, notifications, and database storage. User passwords are securely hashed before being stored.
Challenges we ran into
Our main challenges were designing a reliable claim verification process, connecting the application with the database, managing different user roles, and handling authentication and application workflows.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of building a complete working platform that solves a real campus problem. We successfully implemented the lost/found reporting system, claim workflow, admin management, and database integration.
What we learned
This project helped us understand how to develop a real-world application, work with databases, implement authentication and authorization, manage user roles, and connect different components of a software system.
What's next for KhojSetu
We plan to add AI-based lost-item matching, image recognition, real-time notifications, advanced search, and location-based reporting to make KhojSetu even more efficient.
