Inspiration

Interval Chime is built around a simple idea: a repeating timer should be quick to set and easy to follow by sound. The product focuses on interval timing without adding task lists, accounts, or complicated setup.

What it does

Choose an interval and a number of chimes, then start a session. A clear countdown shows progress, a chime marks each interval, and a double chime signals completion. Sessions can be paused, resumed, or canceled. Four chime sounds and four color themes let users adjust the experience. Local notifications support timing in the background, and a Live Activity shows session status on the Lock Screen.

The core timer is free. An optional lifetime Premium purchase unlocks custom intervals from 1 to 60 minutes, custom counts from 1 to 60 chimes, and hides the app banner. RevenueCat powers the purchase, entitlement checks, and restoration.

How it was built

The app is built natively for iPhone using Swift and SwiftUI. Timer progress is calculated from timestamps rather than accumulated ticks, so the display catches up when the app returns from the background. AVFoundation plays the app chimes, UserNotifications schedules background reminders, and ActivityKit presents session status. The RevenueCat iOS SDK manages the lifetime Premium entitlement.

Challenges and lessons

A key implementation challenge was keeping pause and resume behavior consistent across the countdown, scheduled notifications, and Live Activity. Another was preserving verified Premium access while handling purchase restoration and network failures. These constraints shaped a small, focused interface and a timer that does not wait for purchase networking.

Accomplishments

A published iPhone app with a focused timer interface, four original chime sounds, customizable themes, and a RevenueCat-powered lifetime upgrade. The submission demo shows the English interface and the actual US storefront purchase price.

What is next

The next priority is learning from real usage and refining the clarity and reliability of the core timing experience.
