# 🌌 Interstellers – There Is No Going Back

Inspiration

The inspiration behind Interstellers came from a simple thought: Every stranger is a story waiting to be discovered.

In a world where millions of people are connected through the internet, genuine connections, meaningful conversations, and communities are still difficult to find.

I wanted to build something different—not just another social media platform, but a universe where people could discover others, share their creativity, express themselves, compete, collaborate, and feel that they belong somewhere.

That idea became Interstellers.

The concept of four Houses—Marvel, DC, Pokémon, and Power Rangers—adds another dimension to the experience, allowing users to join communities, participate in challenges, earn points, and compete through leaderboards.

What It Does

Interstellers is a cosmic-themed social community platform designed to bring people together through creativity, entertainment, and friendly competition.

Its key features include:

  • Social Community: Users can create profiles, share posts, interact, and discover other people.
  • Four Houses: Marvel, DC, Pokémon, and Power Rangers communities with their own identities.
  • House Competitions: Users earn points through activities, challenges, and participation.
  • Leaderboards: A competitive ranking system that tracks House achievements.
  • AI Assistant – Anant: An integrated AI assistant designed to help users interact with the platform and explore ideas.
  • Messaging: A space for users to communicate and build connections.
  • Cosmic Experience: A dark, immersive interface with space-inspired visuals, glowing elements, and ambient music.

How I Built It

I developed Interstellers with a modern full-stack web development approach.

Technologies Used:

  • Frontend: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React.js, Next.js, Tailwind CSS.
  • Backend: Next.js API Routes and server-side logic.
  • Database: Neon PostgreSQL.
  • AI Integration: Google Gemini API and Groq API.
  • Authentication: Email-based authentication and OTP verification.
  • Deployment: Vercel.
  • Development Tools: Visual Studio Code, Antigravity, GitHub, and Stitch.

I worked on the interface, backend functionality, database integration, APIs, AI features, and deployment.

I also focused on making the platform accessible across different devices while maintaining its cosmic identity.

Challenges I Faced

Building Interstellers was not easy, especially while learning full-stack development and developing the platform simultaneously.

Some of the major challenges included:

  1. Database Persistence: Ensuring that posts and community information remain available even after deployment and across different user accounts.
  2. Authentication: Implementing secure authentication and email OTP verification.
  3. AI Integration: Connecting multiple AI providers and handling authentication errors, service limits, and temporary outages.
  4. House Competition System: Developing persistent points, leaderboards, House-specific interactions, and competition rules.
  5. Deployment: Resolving environment variables, API issues, build errors, and production deployment problems.
  6. User Experience: Creating an interface that feels immersive without sacrificing readability, usability, or performance.

Each challenge taught me something new about real-world software development.

What I Learned

Through this project, I gained practical experience in:

  • Full-stack web application development.
  • Frontend and backend integration.
  • Database design and persistent data management.
  • API development and integration.
  • AI-powered application development.
  • Authentication and application security.
  • GitHub version control and cloud deployment.
  • Debugging and solving real-world development problems.

Most importantly, I learned that building a real application involves much more than writing code. It requires planning, experimentation, problem-solving, and continuous improvement.

What's Next?

Interstellers is an evolving project. My vision is to expand it into a larger digital universe with:

  • More interactive community experiences.
  • Advanced House competitions and multiplayer games.
  • Better AI-powered experiences through Anant.
  • More creative activities and social features.
  • A stronger global community.

I don't want Interstellers to be just another website people visit.

I want it to become a place where people discover themselves, discover others, and create something meaningful together.

Every stranger is a story waiting to be discovered.

Welcome to Interstellers. There is no going back. 🚀
