Inspiration
Thousands of papers are exchanged between students and employers during career fairs every year, but using InterShip, students can store their resumes on their phones and send them off to employers with a single tap.
What it does
The app reads the unique URL from the employer's NFC tag. The URL is a link to the database where the resume will be sent. The user selects his or her resume from the device's files and it is readied in the app memory, able to be uploaded whenever the phone is tapped.
How I built it
We built InterShip with Android and the NFC reader API. We also created a Firebase data storage site as an example of a database that an employer could possibly use to receive files from InterShip.
Challenges I ran into
Setting up a Firebase datastore backend that successfully interacts with the Android application was extremely difficult.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
SUCCESSFULLY READING NFC AND UPLOADING RESUME TO DATABASE!!!!!
What I learned
Not to try and use Amazon Web Services next time.
What's next for InterShip
In future we can enable companies to send online challenges to the applicants and monitor their responses throughout the application process.
