Endless possibilities start with one question: What if?
What if someone with an incredible idea, a struggling family, or a community in need could reach supporters everywhere without needing technical skills, marketing experience, or an entire team?
That question inspired Interplanetary Fund (iFund).
Fundraising is often unnecessarily complicated. People must manage separate crowdfunding websites, social media accounts, payment systems, promotional tools, and supporter communications. The people who need help most are often the least equipped to navigate all of them.
We wanted to create something different: a fundraising platform that brings people, technology, and opportunities together.
Our vision is simple: Nobody's potential should be limited by their ability to navigate technology.
What it does
Interplanetary Fund is an AI-assisted fundraising and campaign-management platform designed to bring the entire fundraising journey into one accessible workspace.
Instead of managing disconnected services individually, campaign organizers can use iFund to coordinate their efforts.
Its capabilities and development goals include:
- Campaign creation: Create fundraising campaigns with goals, descriptions, images, and progress tracking.
- AI assistance: Help users write compelling stories, improve campaign titles, prepare updates, and plan outreach.
- Platform connections: Coordinate authorized crowdfunding and social media integrations through a unified interface.
- Donation management: Integrate supported payment providers, including PayPal, with transparent accounting and campaign-specific tracking.
- Community engagement: Give supporters opportunities to discover causes, connect, share, and participate.
- AI agents: Develop specialized assistants capable of helping organize campaigns, prepare promotional content, and simplify complex workflows.
- Mobile accessibility: Provide a responsive experience designed for people working primarily from their phones.
- Future fundraising experiences: Explore live-stream donations, charity auctions, supporter rewards, and cryptocurrency contributions.
Our goal is to make campaign management understandable even to someone using fundraising software for the first time.
Create once. Connect everywhere. Manage everything in one place.
Some advanced integrations and financial workflows remain in development and require additional live testing before general release.
The build...
Interplanetary Fund began as a founder-led development project built primarily using mobile devices rather than a traditional development office.
We combined AI-assisted software development with modern web technology, version control, cloud infrastructure, and payment-integration tools.
Our development stack and workflow include:
- Base44: Application development, interface prototyping, and backend-supported workflows.
- React and JavaScript: Interactive, component-based user experiences.
- Node.js and Vite: Development tooling and frontend builds.
- GitHub: Source-code management, collaboration, quality checks, and migration tracking.
- Cloudflare: Web deployment and infrastructure development.
- PayPal: Payment integration and donation-processing development.
- ChatGPT and AI coding assistants: Architecture research, debugging, implementation planning, and documentation.
- Capacitor and Gradle: Android application packaging and mobile development.
We designed the system around modular features so that additional integrations and AI capabilities can be introduced without rebuilding the entire platform.
Throughout development, we prioritized accessible navigation, understandable language, user-controlled permissions, and transparent financial information.
Challenges we ran into
Building an ambitious interconnected fundraising platform with extremely limited resources presented substantial challenges.
One of the biggest was making separate technologies communicate reliably while preserving user permissions and financial accuracy.
We encountered difficult issues involving authentication, deployment environments, API connectivity, payment reconciliation, mobile layouts, and synchronization between development platforms.
We also had to distinguish between features that worked in development and integrations that had been fully verified in production.
A particularly important lesson was that a successful payment interface is not enough. Donations, transaction records, campaign balances, and withdrawals must all match accurately.
Another challenge was developing primarily from mobile devices while coordinating repositories, deployments, debugging, and interface testing.
These obstacles shaped our approach: build systematically, document failures, improve reliability, and never treat a demonstration as proof that a financial system is production-ready.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of transforming an ambitious idea into a substantial, evolving software project.
Our accomplishments include:
- Developing a recognizable interplanetary brand and visual identity.
- Building campaign-management interfaces and public-facing experiences.
- Creating AI-assisted content and campaign workflows.
- Developing community and supporter-engagement components.
- Establishing version-controlled source repositories and deployment workflows.
- Building payment-integration foundations and financial-accounting safeguards.
- Designing a modular system for future connections with external platforms.
- Developing a responsive interface and Android application foundation.
- Creating project documentation, architectural plans, and ongoing quality assessments.
Most importantly, we demonstrated how much can be accomplished through persistence, accessible development tools, and AI-assisted collaboration, even without conventional development resources.
What we learned
We learned that building technology is not simply about adding more features. It is about solving the right problems in ways people can understand and trust.
AI can make sophisticated software development more accessible, but generated code still requires testing, verification, and responsible oversight.
We also learned that accessibility involves more than screen sizes. It requires reducing unnecessary decisions, removing confusing terminology, and explaining complicated processes in familiar language.
Connecting platforms is only valuable when those connections are dependable, authorized, and genuinely useful.
Perhaps our most important lesson is that innovation is not defined by the resources you start with, but by the problems you are willing to solve.
What's next for Interplanetary Fund
Our next priority is completing and validating the essential fundraising experience, including reliable donations, financial reconciliation, withdrawals, and authorized external connections.
After establishing those foundations, we plan to expand:
- AI campaign assistants that help organizers manage outreach, communications, and everyday responsibilities.
- Broader platform integrations that make supported fundraising and social media services work together.
- Live fundraising experiences involving streaming, supporter participation, and charity auctions.
- Flexible giving methods, including additional digital payment options and supported cryptocurrencies.
- Accessible fundraising assistance for individuals and communities with limited technical or financial resources.
- Mobile-first experiences that help people manage campaigns wherever they are.
Our long-term vision is to build a platform that does more than collect donations.
We want to create an interconnected community where people can transform ideas into action, reach supporters across different platforms, and receive meaningful assistance along the way.
Interplanetary Fund is built around one question: What if?
And we're only beginning to explore the possibilities.
