Inspiration
We noticed that there were many high quality tutorials out there like W3Schools, but they missed a crucial audience - those who are interested in programming but have never been fortunate enough to have been provided with an introduction to technology.
What it does
It takes the user through a portal that allows them to choose what sort of programming they want to get started with - web, game or app development. It then guides the user through a user friendly tutorial that is intended to get them into programming from the very basics.
How we built it
We built it using HTML, CSS3 and JavaScript and used Git for version control. Every team member was assigned a task to do in their individual branch which was reviewed by all four members before merging to the main branch. The website was then directly hosted on GitHub.
Challenges we ran into
We attempted to implement a different colour palette for the website to make it more accessible for all users, such as a dark theme, but the dynamic approach we took ended up taking too much time and we had to scrap it last minute.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Deciding an ambitious yet achievable project and completing it within 24 hours.
What we learned
The importance of collaboration and how this impacts the outcome of an educational project.
What's next for Interphase
To expand into further tracks such as hardware development to make computer science more accessible for everyone.
