Inspiration

We are passionate about connecting research with people. There is so much work in research and potential impact that is not being realised. We want to get research into the real world to help develop our communities.

What it does

Interp translates research articles into an accessible and simple form through infographics and concise summaries that explain the key facts. It provides analytics to Universities about the impact and reach of research to the public.

How we built it

Our team focused on identifying the key aspects required for a successful platform. We have developed the vision of what is necessary to implement an intuitive and usable platform. To make up for our lack of development experience we spent time meeting some of the mentors and conducting research to identify key features and the ease of feature implementation. We feel confident we have defined what skills we need.

Challenges we ran into

We framed up the business however we did not build the actual product - however we now understand what we need to do next.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of working successfully as a brand new team to come up with a startup that solves a real issue. We validated the idea during UHack, created a budget and plan to achieve greater research impact.

What we learned

We delved deeper into the problem, and gained a deeper understanding of how to solve it using the Business Canvas. We spoke to researchers and UTAS IT staff and they validated our idea. Researchers told us they want their work to have greater impact on communities and the world. They also told us they need better analytics about research impact to seek funding for future work. We also learned to work as a team - we had never worked together before.

What's next for Interp

We will investigate in more detail AI and blockchain technologies to make our product cost-efficient and streamlined for our customers. Once we are clear on our technology, we will pitch our solution to the University of Tasmania Research Division and start a conversation about a partnership and the pilot project with UTAS.
