Inspiration

The project was inspired by my growing anxiety around environmental residue, bodily autonomy, and the subtle ways systems shape our behavior.

Microplastics became a metaphor for the invisible burdens we carry — emotional, physical, societal. I wanted to explore how a seemingly “healthy” ritual can become an instrument of quiet control.

What I Learned

I learned how AI tools can accelerate handcrafted aesthetics while preserving a surreal, textured atmosphere.

The process showed me that minimal movement + strong metaphor = clearer storytelling, even in abstract worlds.

I also learned how audiences respond differently when symbolism replaces explicit exposition.

How I Built the Project

Generated 2D-style still frames using Midjourney.

Animated each shot in Runway Gen-4 with minimal motion prompts.

Edited sound, pacing, and structure using Epidemic Sound materials.

Constructed a consistent visual rule: cold palette, heavy lines, sterile lighting.

Challenges

Maintaining consistency across AI-generated shots

Getting Runway to follow precise 2D animation rules

Avoiding unwanted distortion, perspective shifts, or camera drift

Conveying metaphor without exposition — trusting viewers to interpret

Despite the 48-hour limit, AI enabled a visual world that would have been impossible to animate manually in such a short time.
