Inspiration
As students ourselves, we've experienced the difficulties of keeping up with note-taking first-hand. We were inspired my our own experiences to create a website that encompasses note-taking, question-asking, and reminders all in one place.
What it does
Intermix Learning allows the user to take rough and good copy notes in a text area. They can also submit questions to the teacher and receive teacher notes/reminders, although we were unable to make it fully functional.
How we built it
Through Replit, we used HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. We also briefly used the open-source framework Bootstrap to assist with formatting in a few areas.
Challenges we ran into
A major challenge that we ran into was implementing our original ambitious ideas. Since both my partner and I's experience in programming is limited, we were experiencing troubles with the back-end development. With no experience with APIs nor back-end development, we were unable to implement our original plans.
Furthermore, since we didn't have experience with applications such as Figma or AdobeXD, and I was the only team member somewhat experienced with CSS, the UI design was a challenge.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
One thing we are proud of is implementing a character count for part of our website, as we had never done anything similar before. Additionally, we are also proud of our logo as it is hand-drawn.
What we learned
We learned many things. In particular, our perspective on programming widened after realizing the many factors that go into such projects. We also deepened our understanding about CSS and JavaScript, and are both confident we would be able to develop similar projects more efficiently and effectively in the future.
What's next for Intermix Learning
After today, we are positive that we will continue our learning with back-end development and will work towards making this project fully functional. Personally, I hope to gain more experience with Node.js.
