Inspiration

The inspiration for this project stemmed from a conversation with a friend who was planning to get a new place. During our chat, she expressed her worries about not possibly being able to set up her space exactly how she envisioned it, primarily due to the cost of hiring an interior designer.

This sparked the idea, and I decided to turn it into a reality. She is one of the first testers for the app, and she absolutely loves how it works.

What it does

Interior Genie is an interior design AI assistant powered by AWS PartyRock Generative AI that helps you generate interior design images based on your input. No more endless browsing the internet for inspiration or being constrained by the budget of hiring an interior designer. Simply input your style preferences and watch as it effortlessly generates stunning interior design ideas.

How we built it

Building my app was a breeze with the AWS PartyRock platform. I logged in, entered the prompt for my app idea, and clicked 'generate app.' After that, I conducted thorough testing to ensure it functioned as expected. Additionally, I enlisted the help of friends to try it out and gather their feedback.

Challenges we ran into

I initially wanted to do a different project, but after carefully considering my ideas, I opted for one that seemed more practical and likely to garner greater usage. To gauge the potential of my idea, I created a Google Form survey and shared it with friends, seeking their input to validate the idea's appeal and potential usage.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am proud of the fact that my project functions exactly as I envisioned it to. Seeing it generate appealing images that suit the user inputs makes me so happy and reinforces my belief in its potential.

What we learned

I enjoyed the process of learning how to use the AWS PartyRock generative AI tool to build cool app ideas with ease. This experience not only expanded my knowledge but also ignited my passion for exploring innovative technologies to solve real-world problems.

What's next for Interior Genie?

I'm excited about exploring the possibility of integrating a speech-to-text feature in the next phase of development. I believe this addition will significantly enhance the overall user experience, and I'm eager to see how it transforms the functionality of the application.
