Inspiration

Buying a home isn’t just a financial transaction, it impacts your entire future life. It affects where you work, how you spend time with family or even when you decide to have children. It’s not just a purchase. It’s a long-term life decision. But although the impact is huge, the path toward it is unclear:

How much do I need to save? How long will it take? What can I actually afford?

That’s the gap we want to close.

Description

InterFox is a web application that helps users plan their path to owning a home through financial guidance. Users begin by describing their dream home. InterFox calculates an estimated goal price for their future home. Based on personal information InterFox generates a buying timeline, showing how much time of saving is needed and what personal funds are required. The core experience happens in the Planner, where users can allow life decisions to affect their timeline, such as increasing savings or having a child. Finally, InterFox includes an AI, offering explanations, warnings and recommendations to help users understand their plan and provide useful approaches to evaluate future decisions.

Difficulites

Our biggest technical hurdle was the data connectivity between the three core pillars:

Learnings

We all improved our skills in web development with React. Throughout the project, we learned how powerful React can be for building clear UI and how to structure an application so new features can be added quickly. Working together also helped us understand how to solve problems as a team and turn ideas into working features.

Future Plans

Another idea that we came up with is a leaderboard that allows users to view their friends' progress. This would be important in increasing the motivation for users to work hard on their dream. In addition, a few aspects should be developed in more detail, which would enhance the quality and usefulness of the app.
