Inspiration

I was inspired to bridge the gap between global faiths. Currently, searching for religious information often leads to biased interpretations or 'mix-ups' where different traditions are confused or misrepresented.

What it does

Instant access to the full, original text of the Bible, Quran, Gita, and more from uploaded source files. Accurate, unbiased analysis of theological topics (like peace or charity) across multiple faiths to prevent misinformation.A centralized schedule for daily religious events, including Namaz times and Pooja Muhurats. scholar-mode" interface that ensures objective and bias-free interfaith dialogue.

How we built it

Used the Gemini 1.5 Pro model as the core engine to process massive text data.Leveraged the 2-million token context window to upload and index full versions of the Bible, Quran, and Gita for accurate retrieval.Utilized AI Studio’s Build Mode to rapidly prototype a React-based interface with interactive buttons and a dark-themed UI.Engineered a "Neutral Scholar" protocol to ensure the AI remains objective and prevents misinformation or religious bias.: Integrated AI-generated schedules to display real-time ritual timings for Namaz and Pooja.

Challenges we ran into

Creating a system that discusses multiple religions without accidentally causing offense or showing bias was a major prompt engineering challenge.Ensuring the AI pulled exact verses from the uploaded PDFs rather than relying on its general training data required strict grounding rules. Designing a simple, one-click "Options" interface that could navigate thousands of pages of complex scripture without overwhelming the user.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Successfully creating a "Neutral Scholar" persona that treats all faiths with equal respect and academic accuracy. Achieving the ability to cross-reference thousands of pages of scripture in seconds to find shared values.

What we learned

How a massive context window can turn static PDFs into a live, searchable "knowledge brain." The importance of strict system instructions in maintaining neutrality and safety for sensitive cultural topics. Discovering the surprising amount of shared values across different scriptures through automated AI comparison.

What's next for Interfaith Compass

Adding real-time translation so users can read and compare scriptures in their native languages. Implementing Text-to-Speech to allow users to listen to holy texts and prayers on the go. Creating a safe, AI-moderated space for respectful interfaith discussion and Q&A. Adding more diverse texts from smaller traditions and philosophical works to broaden the "Digital Bridge."
