Inspiration
After hearing a personal anecdote from one of our team members about the anxiety she experienced l her first interview, we decided to create a website that would help alleviate the stress that high school students often feel about interviews.
What it does
InterCoach connects students with an interactive bot called BobTheBot, which helps them prepare for their interview by providing them with important interview tips and tricks. InterCoach also provides students with a First Impression Check because first impressions are very important, especially in interviews!
How I built it
We built InterCoach using HTML, CSS, and JS. We created five pages (Home, About, Categories, BobTheBot, & First Impressions Check), each with a color gradient we made using CSS. The buttons and layout of the site were created using HTML. We used JS to create a "click-button" function; when the "next" button is clicked by the user, it triggers a response, either revealing previously-hidden text boxes, or concealing or concealing those already shown on the screen
Challenges I ran into
The most common challenges we ran into were with formatting the site using HTML. It was a lot of trial and error, but through experimentation, we found something that worked each time.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
We learned how to build a website from scratch using HTML, CSS, and JS! None of us had previously done that, so we are proud that we were able to complete our project in such limited time.
What's next for InterCoach
We plan on adding more tips to BobTheBot, and create a feature that allows students to have live practice inerviews with professionals in their field.
