Inspiration

We are a team that met while creating performances at an arts school I mean arts college, and we always dreamed of expanding the field of art. We thought that Theater has natural limits in time and space. On stage, only one event can happen at a time in a confined space. This is part that makes performing arts unique, but it's also true that theater is losing audiences to streaming services and other modern media. Audiences now want new experiences that break the mold. Also, many materials used in stage sets, like wood and styrofoam, cause environmental problems, but we haven't found good alternatives yet. XR technology could replace many of these materials. To keep up with the changing times, we want to break down genre boundaries, expand the realm of art, and overcome the limits of traditional theater and performing arts using XR technology.

What it does

'Interactive XR theater' is an expanded form of audience-participation performance (that is currently actively performed). It overcomes the spatial and temporal limitations in traditional theater and allows the audience to explore a wider range of ideas. Audiences wear AR devices to experience the theater space enhanced with augmented reality effects. It allows directors to realize productions that match their imagination beyond the constraints of traditional production sets. Through AR devices, a new layer is created in the space, allowing audiences to sense the theater in a new setting with augmented reality overlaid.
