Inspiration
Oftentimes, students at my own high school had difficulty grasping the material since teachers were often overworked with too many students from a lack of staffing. Independent tools we could use would be a great way to close that gap.
How we built it
I used ReactJS for the program's structure and React Flow for the flowchart.
Challenges we ran into
Having little experience in React, learning how to use the library along the way proved challenging since the mindset I had to approach it with was different than with other programming languages.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The flowchart portion implemented with Flow was certainly a highlight.
What we learned
I learned a lot about how React approaches web development through rendered components, especially with the way hooks add to that.
What's next for Interactive Flowchart Map Essay Guide
A cleaner, more attractive UI is certainly a must. Gamification features to make the experience more interesting would also be a great benefit, especially since the tool is aimed at younger students around middle school to early high school age.
