Inspiration

We, as first year students, have seen a lot of trouble understanding the programming concepts taught at our college. Also, we've seen people facing trouble getting access to the quality content available online. So, we motivated ourselves to make an easy access portal that can be used by even the people who are just familiar with using any mobile app.

What it does

The app has a very simple interface. Easy to use and very enjoyable user experience is a guarantee we can make. The app has a vast set of content from teaching programming to absolute beginners, to improving skills for intermediate learners. Every aspect is carefully crafted with research on fellow students and their opinions. Our app focuses on "practice over stale knowledge" and has a dynamic way to teach programming - Quizzes. These quizzes analyse the user performance and suggests the user on the areas they have to improve in order to stay on top of the competition.

How we built it

We used the latest technologies and libraries, like Jetpack Compose for native Android development, Figma for prototyping our UI, GitHub Copilot and ChatGPT for coding assistance, and many other very helpful resources.

Challenges we ran into

We had to build a dream project in the span of a day. It was very tiring and we are just barely experienced with the topic we chose to work on. Preparing the curriculum for the app was a huge task. Data collection and cleaning took a lot of time, but nothing as close as it took to create the UI. After a lot of brainstorming, we came up with 100s of ideas for layouts, out of which we had to handpick a few.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

After everything we've done, and left to be done, we're still standing strong and hopeful that the result will be fruitful. If not winning, at least we tried. We have that satisfaction and I'm very proud of my team for that.

What we learned

We have learnt a lot of new things (also old things lol). Time is money is an old saying for sure, we experienced it in the span of these two days. Our first day was insanely unproductive. Had to rush on the second day. Also, we have learnt many new technologies and principles while trying to implement new features by looking up the internet.

What's next for IntelliQuest

For now, the progress we've achieved isn't very satisfactory, but with more time to put into it, I'm sure IntelliQuest will achieve greater heights in the field of EdTech. Our aim to help students isn't just a dream anymore, now that we've initiated it. We will keep building and make IntelliQuest a name that everyone knows (at least in our college). We will add more courses and broaden the target. Add more features and keep working, to make enjoyable learning something that every student has access to.
