Hackathon Project Announcement: AI-Powered Grid Optimization for Sustainable Energy

We are excited to share our project for this hackathon — AI-Powered Grid Optimization for Sustainable Energy — a system designed to analyse the relationship between a country’s power consumption and its GDP, while exploring how clean energy can be integrated more efficiently alongside non-renewable sources.

Our idea tackles the ongoing challenge of balancing economic growth with sustainability. Through AI and data-driven insights, we aim to determine which clean energy sources (such as solar, wind, or hydro) are best suited for each country based on its geographical characteristics.

The system will optimize how energy is distributed:

Non-renewable energy will focus on powering essential industries (like businesses and manufacturing) during the day.

Clean energy will supplement non-essential loads (like residential areas), helping reduce dependence on fossil fuels and lowering carbon emissions.

By utilizing Google Cloud technologies — including Vertex AI, Firebase, and Google Databases/Sheets — we will develop an intelligent, ethical, and unbiased AI model trained on diverse and comprehensive datasets. This ensures fairness in predictions and recommendations for sustainable grid management.

As university students, we recognize that due to time constraints, the full implementation may extend beyond the hackathon. However, this project represents our long-term vision, and we are committed to continuing its development even after the competition ends.

Our ultimate goal is to build a system that contributes to a cleaner, smarter, and more sustainable global energy future — where technology, ethics, and sustainability work hand in hand.
