Inspiration

Using technology to empower patients to build connections with AbbVie.

What it does

It tracks environmental conditions of medication, and warns patients if it has gone outside prescribed parameters for too long.

How I built it

A prototype enclosure contains a battery pack, Raspberry Pi, temperature sensor and cooling system to keep medication at the proper temperature. Software on the Raspberry monitors and tracks temperatures, and warns the patient when conditions are no longer acceptable for the medication. The Raspberry Pi also updates a connected dashboard available to the patient on the web.

Challenges I ran into

Settling on an idea, working through the limitations of the sensors on the Raspberry Pi.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Working together as a team on a common goal, with everyone contributing to the project.

What I learned

It's hard to make something in a very short time.

What's next for Intelligent Connected Container for Medication

Convincing AbbVie to mass produce them. Explore use for shipping refrigerated medication to clinical trial sites.
