Inspiration
We were inspired by the idea of talking to your mirror
What it does
User can ask/tell the mirror certain phrases and it would pull up different events (calendar, how to tie tie, weather)
How we built it
A Raspberry PI runs the display for the mirror. A React webpage is run with frontend and the PI listens to user text and translates with Google API which tells the React to redirect to different screens for different events.
Challenges we ran into
Many ... passing event data based on user speech from Python to React proved to be a pain Retrieving the data from user speech and parsing it through Python.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Built nice frontend with animations for events Getting Google Natural Language API to recognize data
What we learned
React, getting different technologies to talk to each other is hard
What's next for Intelliflect
Hopefully we can get it to recognize more events
