Inspiration
Intelli Medica is inspired by our own experience while registering for Covid 19 vaccine. The existing system poses a big challenge in providing an appropriate time slot to an individual. The current system does not provide a seamless experience to the end users who face great difficulty in registering for the same. The same user could register themselves several times across different venues and the system could not restrict the same. So, a number of Venues were seeing a No-Show from a huge number of Candidates registered for the same as they might have opted for another venue. This was jeopardizing the entire vaccination timelines. This mooted the idea that we have wherein we have wanted to build a system which is connected centrally and managed efficiently to remove redundancy and accelerate the Vaccination process.
What it does
Intelli Medica is a Pega Powered Medical Assistance and Registration system. Our application mainly deals with the enrollment process using Pega Unified Messaging Channel.
Admins would be creating Venues that would be catering to the Vaccination by putting in the required Venue Details. Each of these Venues would have a designated Contact Person responsible for the Vaccination process at that venue. The Vaccine Venue case will be routed to that Contact person bucket.
Assuming our company has mentioned the helpline phone number in the website, so that patient can use the number for communication. Patient can directly initiate a chat with Pega IVA through Whatsapp.. QR code enabled email will be sent to the patient to confirm their registration.
As a reminder to the Patients of the upcoming Vaccination, the application would also send an SMS one day prior to the scheduled date.
The contact person can use Pega Mobile App to complete the vaccination process by scanning the QR code.
How we built it
We have integrated with numverify to validate the phone number and to extract the mobile location.
The application uses Twilio SMS API to send reminder to patients.
The application also uses Twilio Whatsapp One-Way Messaging API to send the vaccination completion notification and asking for feedback.
We have leveraged Pega Mobile Preview app to complete the vaccination process.
We have enabled Pega Natural Language Processing and Text Extraction to analyze the sentiments and extract few entities.
We have generated the QR Code from Pega and enabled the QR Scanning feature.
Challenges we ran into
Our biggest challenge was configuring Unified Messaging Channel for Whatsapp as this is our first exercise to configure this.
Another challenge is the monthly limitation for numverify api call. As we are using a “Free Plan”, we can do only 250 calls per month for a single API Key.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Unified Messaging Channel - We have configured UMC for Whatsapp using Twilio for bi-directional messaging experience.
We have built few component applications which we have associated with our application.
Twilio One-Way Messaging - We have utilized Twilo API to send Outbound whatsapp message.
numverify API - We were looking for an API by which we can validate the phone number and location. By this API we can verify the phone number and extract the location as well.
We were thrilled to create the demo video using MS Power Point. We did not have access to Paid Editing tools and Screen recorders, which are very useful in creating Jazzy UIs. However, we believe that even without these Sophisticated tools, we have been able to pull off what we wanted through this video.
What we learned
- We have had tremendous amount of learning during the time that we built this.
- We have learned how to add a QR code and enable scanner on our Pega screen and how to access the application through Pega Mobile Preview app.
- We have also learned the Omni-Channel feature using Unified Messaging Channel.
- This Virtual Assistant can be enabled for other channels as well like Twitter, SMS, Facebook Messenger.
- We now know how to use Pega mobile feature and configure it.
- Additionally, we learned many tips and tricks of Windows Video Editor and PPT.
What's next for Intelli Medica
This application is just a prototype which is in its very nascent stage. Our application can be extended through multiple channels to widen the reach of Patients. We are also looking at upgrading our Text Extraction to make it more powerful.
