Inspiration

The inspiration for InteLink AI came from the challenge of maintaining meaningful engagement on LinkedIn. Many professionals find it time-consuming and difficult to craft thoughtful, impactful comments, posts, and recommendations. This often leads to missed opportunities to strengthen connections and showcase personal branding. InteLink AI was designed to make LinkedIn engagement effortless, accessible, and highly personalized.

What it does

InteLink AI is a Chrome extension that leverages AI to streamline LinkedIn interactions. It provides:

  • Comment Generation: Users can generate thoughtful comments with pre-crafted tones like Analyst, Supporter, Visionary, and Learner or customize their own tone. Comments can be regenerated until users find the perfect match.
  • Post Writing: Users can input an open-ended prompt, and the extension will generate professional and engaging posts.
  • Recommendation Simplification: Users fill out a structured form (Name, Role, Key Skills, Achievements, Personality Traits), and InteLink AI crafts polished recommendations.
    All processing is done locally, ensuring privacy and eliminating additional costs.

How we built it

InteLink AI was built using:

  • Chrome Extension Framework: For seamless integration with LinkedIn.
  • Chrome Built-in AI Writer API: To power natural language generation for comments, posts, and recommendations.
    The user interface was designed to provide an intuitive, guided experience for professionals of all backgrounds.

Challenges we ran into

  1. API Instability: The Chrome built-in AI API is not entirely stable yet. Users might encounter errors such as:
    • "NotSupportedError: The model attempted to output text in an untested language, and was prevented from doing so". This occurs mostly with non-English content but can occasionally happen with English as well.
    • "NotReadableError: The execution yielded a bad response." This error is common for long text outputs but sometimes appears with short text too.
  2. Fine-Tuning AI Outputs: Ensuring consistently relevant and professional content required extensive testing and optimization.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We’re proud of creating a tool that enhances productivity and engagement while prioritizing user privacy. The ability to provide unlimited regenerations of content locally without any added cost is a key achievement. Moreover, the integration of structured forms for recommendation generation makes it easy for users to craft personalized content without overthinking.

What we learned

This project taught us how to effectively guide AI-generated content to match specific user needs. We also deepened our understanding of building intuitive, user-friendly interfaces for professional applications and the importance of local processing for privacy and cost-efficiency.

What's next for InteLink AI

  • Enhanced Customization: Adding more pre-crafted tones and advanced customization options for tone and style.
  • Analytics Dashboard: Providing insights into user engagement to measure the impact of generated content.
  • Integration with Other APIs: Leveraging additional Chrome Built-In AI APIs to broaden functionality, including integrating a Translation API to support multiple languages and a Rewrite API for polishing translations or proofreading text originally created by the user.
  • Extended LinkedIn Integration: Expanding InteLink AI's capabilities across more areas of LinkedIn, such as optimizing various profile sections, creating and managing events, and more, for a comprehensive AI-powered LinkedIn experience.
