Insurify

Inspiration

We first heard about the issue when we found out one of our mom’s had been waiting 3 weeks for a response to her pre-authorization request to see if insurance would cover repairing her broken tooth. During those 3 weeks, she had experienced bleeding and pain while putting off the dental procedure and waiting for insurance. We realized that this large timeframe of waiting was a huge problem, especially since people’s health and quality of life are on the line. To better manage finances and health, we made something that would eliminate the waiting time and offer transparency.

What it does

Insurify uses AI analysis to search through past pre-authorization requests made through Insurify and the outline of the selected healthcare insurance plan to determine whether the user’s request is eligible or ineligible, and if so how much coverage the insurance company will provide.

How we built it

We used typedream.com to help create the website mockup. We discussed and conducted research to determine what the website would look like and how Insurify would work.

What we learned

As this is our first ideathon, we learnt that even though there is no coding involved, there were still a lot of things to consider if we wanted to properly flesh out our idea and bring it to life.

What’s next for Insurify

We hope that our project and presentation is able to bring awareness to this civic issue on pre-authorization. We would be open to collaborate with stakeholders to further develop Insurify and improve healthcare access in general.
