💡 Inspiration
The inspiration behind our project came from a common problem faced by patients: understanding what their insurance policy actually covers and how much their treatment may cost.
Insurance policies can be difficult to understand because of different coverage rules, exclusions, limits, and treatment conditions. At the same time, patients often want to know their expected treatment expenses before making important healthcare decisions.
This motivated us to build Policy-to-Patient: Insurance Coverage & Treatment Cost Intelligence, a solution focused on making insurance and treatment-cost information easier to understand.
🛠️ How We Built It
We designed the project around the idea of connecting insurance policy information with patient treatment requirements.
Our approach focuses on analyzing policy-related information and presenting it in a simpler and more understandable form for the patient. The system is intended to help users understand relevant coverage information and get better insight into treatment costs.
We followed a structured approach that included understanding the problem, defining the solution, designing the technical approach, and considering the feasibility and real-world impact of the system.
📚 What We Learned
While developing the project, we learned how important it is to convert complex information into something that a normal user can understand easily.
We also learned about:
- Understanding real-world problems before designing a solution
- Structuring and processing information
- Designing a technology-based solution around user needs
- Thinking about feasibility and scalability
- Considering the real-world impact of a software solution
- Working as a team to convert an idea into a practical project
Most importantly, we learned that a good technical solution should not only work technically but should also solve a real problem for its intended users.
🚧 Challenges We Faced
One of our major challenges was dealing with the complexity of insurance-related information. Policies can contain different conditions, coverage limits, and exclusions, which makes it difficult to present the information in a simple way.
Another challenge was designing the solution so that it could be useful to patients without making the process complicated.
We also had to think about the feasibility, reliability, and practical impact of our proposed system while developing the technical approach.
🚀 Our Goal
Through Policy-to-Patient, our goal is to make insurance coverage and treatment-cost information more accessible and understandable for patients.
We believe that simplifying this information can help patients make more informed decisions and reduce the confusion that often comes with understanding insurance coverage and treatment expenses.
