Inspiration
Many private practices find it difficult to determine patient insurance eligibility. It is a hassle to call insurance providers and wait on the phone to receive a breakdown of patient's copay, deductible, etc. As a result, 50% of private practices don't accept insurance. The ACA mandates that insurance on the state exchanges cover mental health care as part of their plans. More people are covered than ever before but mental health providers have not caught up.
What it does
Input health provider and patient information and see insurance eligibility and coverage in real-time.
How we built it
We experienced the problem first hand and decided to do something about it. We reached out to a private practice and interviewed the provider to learn about their antiquated process (phone, fax, etc.). We then researched APIs to generate insurance eligibility and coverage by simply entering in a few details. Andrew designed the app and hacked the HTML/CSS together and Evie wired up the API and deployed the React app.
Challenges we ran into
The subtle pain of converting static HTML/CSS into React.
Accomplishments that we are proud of
