Project Story – InsuraAI+

In a world where insurance claims can take weeks to process, InsuraAI+ was born from a simple but ambitious idea: “What if claims could be processed in real-time, with no human intervention?” That single question fueled the creation of a fully serverless, AI-powered, scalable insurance claim validation system, built entirely on AWS.

What Inspired Us

We noticed how traditional insurance claim processing is painfully slow, manual, and often plagued by fraud. Paper trails, human approval chains, and lack of document intelligence make the process inefficient and frustrating for users. We wanted to fix that. So, we set out to build a system that thinks, acts, and reacts like a smart insurance officer—reading claims, understanding them, scoring risks, and alerting stakeholders—all within seconds.

How We Built It

InsuraAI+ leverages the power of: Amazon Bedrock (Titan) for claim summarization and AI risk classification Amazon Textract for accurate OCR from PDFs and scanned documents AWS Step Functions to orchestrate the entire lifecycle of claim processing AWS Lambda for modular, scalable backend logic Amazon DynamoDB for fast, serverless data storage Amazon SNS & EventBridge for real-time notifications React.js frontend for a clean, modern user dashboard Everything is wrapped into a seamless pipeline—from upload to decision—in under 10 seconds.

Challenges We Faced

Ensuring data accuracy from scanned documents using Textract Parsing varied document formats and handwritten content Handling missing fields like Policy ID and intelligently backfilling from metadata Managing asynchronous flow control across Lambda, Bedrock, and EventBridge Designing a frontend that adapts to dynamically evolving claim status in real time
