The inspiration behind our Insulin Calculator was to empower individuals managing diabetes with a tool that simplifies and optimizes insulin dosage calculations, enhancing daily health management.

What it does:

The Insulin Calculator helps users determine precise insulin dosages based on current glucose levels, carbohydrate intake, and activity levels. It provides personalized recommendations for efficient diabetes management.

How we built it:

We built the Insulin Calculator using draftbit an online app development tool and javascript by integrating it with an algorithm that calculate insulin requirements dynamically. We collaborated closely to ensure accuracy and user-friendly design.

Challenges we ran into:

One challenge we faced was fine-tuning the algorithm to accommodate varying user profiles and scenarios accurately. Integrating real-time data inputs and ensuring seamless functionality across different devices posed additional challenges. Another challenge we faced was adding camera functionality into the app and using a machine learning algorithm with it. To circumvent this problem we used a text message API which we sent pictures to run our machine learning software and then return info.

Accomplishments that we're proud of:

We're proud of creating a reliable tool that can positively impact the daily lives of individuals managing diabetes. Achieving accurate insulin recommendations and developing a user interface that enhances accessibility were significant accomplishments. We also were proud of the fact that we were able to connect a text message API with a machine learning algorithm that we developed using teachable machine.

What we learned:

Through this project, we gained insights into the complexities of diabetes management and the importance of precision in medical calculations. We also honed our skills in app development, machine learning, and API implementation.

What's next for Insulin Calculator:

In the future, we aim to expand the Insulin Calculator's capabilities by incorporating machine learning and working with medical professionals to enhance prediction accuracy. We also plan to integrate with wearable devices for real-time health monitoring and expand accessibility globally.
