We had this idea that it would be useful if people are able to get information on whether essential items are available in the nearby stores so that they don't have to go around in search for these. When we were working on this, to our surprise we came across this article in our local county magazine.

What it does

We have created a responsive web page for consumers to search for and report whether the most essential items are available in the stores nearby any specified location.

How we built it

We used Angular, Node and Mongo.

Challenges we ran into

We had started the project on Friday. So to be able to conceive and iterate through the development cycles was a challenge. Initially we planned it for store owners/manager/employee to update the data. Then we thought crowdsourcing would be more powerful option during these times and developed accordingly.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We will approach our county and other organizations to use this app. This would provide search capabilities for data near the location. Currently they are using facebook to coordinate.

What we learned

We learnt that we could support the community during these days being developers and designers and the application has a real world use case which could help many people.

What's next for InStock

We are planning on expanding the website to the store owners for obtaining more accurate inventory information on inventory, store timings.
