Instigator

Inspiration & What it does

Whenever you’re trying to plan an event with your friends, everyone has a different schedule, assignments due then, tests that day, etc. So how do we navigate through all the turmoil and craziness of each person’s schedule? Well we made Instigator an app that can link people’s schedules together. By pasting the link you get from your calendar into Instigator, it populates your assignments, tests, and events onto a page where all your friends can view it. Then, if you go into the friend tab, you can look at the events your friends have on their calendar. Additionally on this app you can create events and invite your friends to it, while creating this event you can also see who is available and when. Essentially this app makes planning events easier.

Challenges we ran into

Initially, we had a hard time coming up with an idea to build, after multiple discussions and ideas we finally landed on instigator. When we were first deciding the features of the app we put too many expectations into it and did not have enough time to code it. However, we decided to add less features and focus around the central thing that Instigator would be built for.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Making a working prototype of an app within the limited time frame. Kind of scary when it came down to the last 5 minutes and git finally decided it would push. First time working with any of the things that we worked with which is surprising that we got an end result.

What we learned

We learned that less is better when you are building a prototype. With too many features it can make the app more complicated. It's also difficult to work as a team where everybody puts an equal contribution or to find things for people to do.

What's next for Instigator

The future plan is to update the app to allow friends to see when you have completed your assignments and allow them to track the assignments you have. This can allow planning events to be easier because you'll know what your friends are working on at the current moment.
