Who we are

We are all fresh UPE members and current students at FIU. We are all first-time hackers, so we were very intimidated by ShellHacks, but at the same time excited and ambitious to get started on a challenge as a team. Wanting to challenge ourselves, learn new skills, and meet with new teammates.

What it does

InstaSlots is a instant-win slot machine game where the user bets in-game currency and can determine their own bet, and when to slow the slot machine to a stop to find out if they've won or lost.

How we built it

We built InstaSlots on the Unity Game Engine. We designed most of the game objects, either on Unity or on Blender, but found some game assets online to alleviate the amount of design work that had to be done so we could focus on the other issues at hand.

Challenges we ran into

The two main challenges that we ran into as a team were learning the Unity Engine and the time constraint for the challenge.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The entire project. As first time hackers, we are all proud of each other for the hard work we conducted over the past 35 hours.

What we learned

A lot. We learned how to work together as a team during a very constrained and taxing challenge. We also learned a ton about the Unity Engine and C#.

What's next for InstaSlot

We are planning on polishing, debugging, and adding new features to the InstaSlot game in the future.
