Inspiration

The idea for InstantLearn was born from a common workplace frustration: the gap between needing to learn something and actually finding the right educational content. Whether it's a developer who needs to quickly understand Python for an urgent project, a marketing professional diving into data analytics, or a team lead exploring AI fundamentals, traditional learning resources are either too generic, too lengthy, or don't match your specific context and timeline.

We asked ourselves: "What if learning could be as instant as asking a question?" What if you could say "I need to learn React hooks for my job interview tomorrow" and get a perfectly tailored course that matches your exact skill level, learning style, and time constraints?

What it does

InstantLearn is an AI-powered personalized learning platform that transforms any topic into custom courses in few seconds. It's like having a personal tutor who knows exactly how you learn and what you need.

Simply tell InstantLearn what you want to learn, your current level, how much time you have, and your preferred learning style. Within few seconds, you get a complete course with interactive lessons, progress tracking, and AI-powered assistance throughout your learning journey. Choose between text, audio, or video content based on your preference, with chat-to-learn and speak-to-learn features for dynamic education.

How we built it

We architected InstantLearn as a modern, scalable full-stack application:

Bolt.new: The main foundational and core build of InstantLearn

Mobile: React Native + Expo with TypeScript for cross-platform native performance and custom UI components optimized for learning experiences.

Web: Nextjs with TypeScript for with mobile first design approach with great performance and custom UI components optimized for learning experiences.

Backend Infrastructure: Next.js with App Router, Drizzle + Supabase for flexible data modeling, JWT authentication with secure token management, and RESTful APIs for all platform interactions.

AI-Powered Engine: AI orchestration

Challenges we ran into

The most inspiring challenge was bringing AI video tutors to life using Tavus. Imagine having a personalized video instructor who not only knows your name but adapts their teaching style, pace, and examples specifically for you. The breakthrough moment came when we realized we could generate not just static educational videos, but truly conversational AI tutors.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We’re proud to have built a scalable microservices architecture with Cloudflare Workers—delivering sub-minutes AI-powered course generation, real-time analytics, and enterprise-grade authentication—culminating in the unforgettable moment when our first user completed a course and immediately created another, validating every line of code, every integration, and every design decision.

What we learned

Perfectionism is the enemy of progress. I spent weeks trying to perfect the AI prompt engineering when users just wanted courses that worked. Sometimes "good enough" AI-generated content that ships is better than "perfect" content that never sees users.

AI Personal Tutor: Imagine an AI companion that learns alongside you, remembers what you struggled with last week, and proactively suggests review sessions. Not just a chatbot, but a persistent learning partner that grows with you over months and years.
