Inspiration
We wanted to build an app that can help people all around the world that also adhered to the theme. We thought about what website lets us reach the most people. We stumbled upon the idea of a Symptom Checker and put it in the back of the JamBoard but as we looked into it more and more it started to look like the best and most appealing idea for the hackathon.
What it does
This website is able to give you an accurate diagnosis based on the symptoms you provide. Simply enter in some symptoms and within seconds you have a complete diagnosis. Which doctor to visit, what issue you are facing as well as an accuracy percentage for your illness. This is health care at your fingertips ready to be used to save long trips to the doctor's office and make healthcare more accessible!
How we built it
We built this app using Flask to host the server, HTML, CSS, and JS we are also using the APIMedic API to help us diagnose based on provided symptoms.
Challenges we ran into
The large challenge that we ran into was with the API calls which we thought returned JSON but it actually returned JSON that was filled with lists so it took some time to figure that out and then extract the data properly.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are really proud of the final app and how we were able to put it all together in just 2 days as we spent most of the extra time just playing with the UI trying to make it look as good as possible and have the most user-friendly and enjoyable experience.
What we learned
We learned important skills in HTML, and CSS as well as in python for the API calls.
What's next for InstaDiagnose
We plan to host this app on render to ensure that people from all over the world can continue to view and use it. We also will be fixing some code infelicities to make it more efficient.
