Inspiration
Upgrading the current State Farm experience with VR and AI technologies for a faster and more accurate modern tele-adjuster. Plus we all remember Jake from State Farm.
What it does
Our project leverages API's to achieve photogrammetry of a 360 degree video and then complete the analysis of a damaged vehicle via an AI (not implemented in prototype build). The claimant then has the option of accepting the claim as is or requesting a human adjuster to review the vehicle as a second opinion. This is achieved without travel by utilizing the previously built 3D model rendered through Sketchfab's 3D modeling API to allow a walkaround of the vehicle from the comfort of the adjuster's office, eliminating travel time unless deemed necessary.
Challenges we ran into
Team learned the technologies utilized on the fly to create our project, so many snags were met along the way. However, considering we were also shooting press footage for Richland College we remain proud of our time management and achievements as primarily hardware based hackers. We also ran into issues with our photogrammetry implementation only allowing 46 frames per free access, leaving a void in our model. However, with the proper licensing, this should be easily corrected.
What we learned
App development is hard, and even Jake can have a bad day.
What's next for Jake's InstaClaim Experience
We aim to continue building upon what we have learned to hopefully continuing the tuning of our application for educational purposes, if not practical purposes.
