Inspiration

We both previously completed internships at different companies, where we noticed a common challenge: teams often struggle to extract meaningful insights from large volumes of data. Despite having access to data, decision-makers frequently lack tools to quickly interpret patterns and make informed choices. This inspired us to create InsightsAI, a platform that simplifies data analysis and makes insights accessible to everyone, not just data specialists.

What it does

InsightsAI takes raw datasets and transforms them into actionable insights. It provides clear visualizations, highlights trends and anomalies, and even offers natural language summaries to explain complex data in simple terms. Users can explore their data, ask questions, and receive understandable reports without needing advanced technical expertise.

How we built it

We built InsightsAI using React, Tailwind CSS, Supabase, and Node.js. The backend server handles API calls to Gemini, processes the responses, and serves the data to the frontend, enabling dynamic, real-time insights and visualizations for users.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was ensuring that the AI-generated insights were both accurate and easy to understand. Balancing technical complexity with a user-friendly design required multiple iterations. Additionally, dynamically generating charts proved particularly difficult, as it required crafting precise model instructions for Gemini to follow correctly.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of creating a tool that transforms complex data into actionable insights in minutes. Our platform is accessible to non-technical users, and early testing showed that it helped different users identify trends they would have otherwise missed. We also successfully integrated AI explanations in a way that feels natural and informative, which significantly enhances the user experience.

What we learned

Through building InsightsAI, we gained valuable experience in data processing, AI integration, and user-centered design. We learned how to translate complex technical outputs into clear, understandable results and how to iterate quickly based on user feedback. This project also strengthened our teamwork and problem-solving skills in a real-world setting.

What's next for InsightsAI

We plan to evolve InsightsAI into a startup company and already have potential clients lined up to pitch the platform, aiming to demonstrate how it can transform their data into actionable insights.
