Inspiration
Ins Autopilot was born from a simple frustration: growing an Instagram audience shouldn't require risky black-box bots or handing over your account password. We wanted a tool that works at a human pace, right inside the browser session you already use.
What it does
Ins Autopilot is a Manifest V3 Chrome extension for Instagram automation and outreach. It combines targeted auto follow from profile followers, following lists, post likers, and commenters; protected auto unfollow with a Safe List, mutual-follower skip, a 7-day grace period, and optional confirmation; auto like for the Home Feed and Reels; keyword-based comment replies; and one-off or queued Direct Messages.
It runs inside your existing logged-in browser session and never asks for your Instagram password. Randomized 4-15 second delays, cool-down breaks, adjustable daily limits, automatic back-off when Instagram refuses an action, activity history, monitoring, analytics, and CSV export help keep every workflow visible and under control.
How we built it
We built Ins Autopilot as a Manifest V3 Chrome extension with a lightweight in-browser automation engine. Instead of making server-side API calls, it interacts with Instagram only through your own logged-in session, so your credentials never leave your machine. A safety layer wraps every action with human-like pacing, daily caps, and automatic back-off whenever Instagram refuses an action.
Challenges we ran into
The hardest challenge was safety. Instagram actively detects and penalizes aggressive automation, so we designed Ins Autopilot to behave like a careful human: randomized delays, grace periods before unfollowing, mutual-follower protection, and responsive back-off. Balancing useful automation with those safeguards shaped nearly every decision we made.
What we learned
We learned that sustainable growth is about restraint, not volume. Clear limits, transparent activity history, and protected unfollow flows build far more trust than raw speed, and users genuinely want to see and control what the tool is doing on their behalf.
