Inspiration

Getting accurate college information is often slow and confusing. Students depend on WhatsApp groups, faculty messages, or outdated notices. Important updates get missed, and students hesitate to ask repetitive questions. We wanted to build a system where students can get official, instant, and reliable answers without needing to disturb faculty — and also create a structured way to submit complaints or issues. This inspired us to create InQuire, a smart assistant for campus information and grievance reporting.

What it does

InQuire is an AI-powered platform that: Answers student queries instantly using official college documents, circulars, and notices as the source of truth. Provides a clean web interface / chatbot where students can ask anything — timings, exam schedules, attendance rules, fee details, holidays, etc. Includes a Complaint / Issue Reporting Module where students can submit concerns or requests. Allows Admin: View all incoming student issues Respond with resolutions

How we built it

Integrated an LLM (AI model) that retrieves only verified information. Built a clean React + Tailwind frontend for asking queries and submitting issues. Used Supabase as the backend for: Complaint submission and tracking Created an Admin Dashboard where faculty can review and resolve issues. Connected everything through an API layer to ensure fast, reliable responses.

Challenges we ran into

Ensuring the AI answers only from official documents instead of generating random answers. Designing a system simple enough that any student could use without learning anything new. Managing real-time updates between student and admin panels.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Successfully built an AI system that gives accurate, not generic responses. Created a complete end-to-end complaint workflow — from student submission to admin resolution. Designed a user-friendly UI that students found easy to use. Integrated multiple technologies (LLM + Supabase + React) into a seamless product. Made something that can genuinely impact student-faculty communication

What we learned

How to build AI systems that rely on retrieval from official documents, not hallucinations. The importance of clean data structure and prompt engineering. How to collaborate efficiently and manage tasks within a short hackathon timeframe. Practical backend–frontend integration using Supabase. Real-world problem solving from a student's perspective.

What's next for InQuire

Adding voice-based queries for faster accessibility. Introducing notifications for new circulars or admin responses. Expanding the complaint module with priority levels and department-wise routing. Integrating multi-language support for wider usability.
