Innovation
We innovate on two themes
- Creative thinking to address challenges
- Innovative AI technology development
How creative is the proposed solution?
We researched and addressed the most pressing issues in a novel and creative way. Examples of creative applications are as follows.
Innovative solution to address infant health As seen in the video recording of the AI demo, we employ AI for early detection of danger signs in infants in home. (Ref: UNICEF State of World Children report , UNICEF Infant health booklet 'Facts for life' ). For example, the demo shows how dangerous signs like chest indrawing are detected by our AI. The family in tribal villages can use their personal smartphone to record the infant's videos and basic health data. and the AI smartly detects if any medical attention is needed or NOT. The innovative part is not only early detection at home settings, but also a novel AI technology that can reason over video. (see demo video of how our AI can understand and comprehend video clips by comparing the breathing patterns of healthy and sick infants) .
Note: 1 girl out of every 20 births don't survive till their 5th birthday in least developed countries (Central & West Africa and SubSaharan Africa) as per UNICEF data. Lack of access to healthcare in remote areas can be creatively addressed by using our AI solution. The family simply has to use their smartphone to detect if the infant is healthy or needs any visit to a doctor (refer our demo video to view this).
New way to enable quality education for millions in rural areas As seen in the video recording of the AI demo, we employ AI not for e-learning but for STEM activity-based coaching. The interesting part is : The AI can watch the STEM experiments of the children in rural areas, and then coach them. Insight: Children learn by doing naturally. By having an AI that can observe the experimental activities and then analyze the video, and then coach the child. This is the first time AI is employed for analyzing videos of STEM experiments (see our video).

- Innovative thinking to reduce poverty in vulnerable sections As seen in the video recording of the AI demo, we creatively employ the power of AI to coach vulnerable people. The video shows how persons with intellectual disability can be coached by AI with skills. The video also shows how a person with visual impairment can AI to improve the output of his tasks to improve financial income.
Note: Poverty and disability are a vicious circle as per UNICEF data on disability. Upskilling in the age of AI is the clear strategic idea by govt/NGOs to improve job ready skills. By coaching persons with disability on job-ready skills, it is possible to provide employment and thus break the vicious circle of poverty.

Does the project showcase novel technology?
By tapping into the latest advances in the field of AI, and by experimenting with the latest AI models such in Generative Multimodal Large Language AI Models , we were able to develop novel solutions. (as demonstrated in the video recording of the demo). The source code is made available on our project website (given in the try it our link).
For the first time, we apply AI that understands video feeds. We also create AI solutions that learn by watching videos of professors' science experiments and then use that learning to analyze students' STEM experiments. The AI is above to see the student's STEM experiment like a professor and coaches the student.
We also apply this technology in the medical education field. We teach the AI by on first-aid procedures performed by senior doctors. Once the AI learns the procedures , it is able to coach the new staff. The video demonstrates this in action.
