Inspiration
My inspiration for InLoco comes from the realization that small towns often lack opportunities for employment, which can lead to depopulation, aging and a decrease in the quality of life in these areas. I wanted to create a solution that could harness the power of STEM and remote work to make small towns more attractive places to live and work.
What it does
People working remotely or in a hybrid mode will have an alternative provided by our coworking hotspots. These will be small spaces located in small towns where you can work in comfortable conditions and socialize with others during breaks. Well-equipped offices will be furnished with items sourced locally. Refurbished furniture will be given a new life in our hotspots. To maintain and clean the offices, we will collaborate with local individuals, thereby creating new job opportunities. Local grocery stores and restaurants will gain new customers thanks to our business.
To ensure profitability, we will cooperate with local entities, securing preferential rental rates and tax incentives. In return, we will contribute to making their towns more lively and vibrant.
Companies will have access to an incredibly vast pool of candidates from across the country, and the option of small-town coworking hotspots will be an attractive benefit for new employees. These companies will be the primary source of cash flow for our business.
Freelancers and employees will find their workspace in a small town.
Data storage and processing powered by AI will assist us in finding optimal solutions and tailoring offers to our partners.
InLOCO will be a social enterprise, not solely focused on profit but also dedicated to the development and engagement of local communities.
How I built it
I started with making the notes on paper. After I gathered the ideas, I structed them. I made "a skeleton" of my presentation. Then I consulted the concept with the mentors. They helped me with the loops and areas I still have to find a solution for. Then I designed my presentation and generated the graphics by AI (All graphics in my project are made using Canva AI).
Challenges I ran into
How to make small towns a better place to live? How to attract first clients? How to know where is demand for this service? How to measure what is the demand for this service? How to use AI to make the perfect offers?
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I managed to go through the process myself with the help of mentors. 48 hours is both incredibly long and incredibly short at the same time, especially when you are working solo. I must to admit it made me much fun.
What I learned
While working solo, time management and self-discipline are crucial. But I know that to make it grow, I need to find teammates.
I learned how many aspects I have to keep in mind to create a business.
What's next for inLoco
The next important step is conducting research on potential initial locations.
I will reach out to local authorities to propose this concept. While doing so, I will contact companies that are already operating in a remote or hybrid mode, offering them unique benefits for their employees.
The data gathered will assist in creating the appropriate strategy.
I plan to run the coworking hotspot in a local small town, involving my friends and inviting local freelancers.
The success of the first hotspot will help me convince more people of this idea.
